Public x402 figures are not one total. On 2026-10-21, x402.org showed 75.41M transactions and $24.24M under Last 30 Days, and x402scan showed 3.06M transactions and $1.50M under Past 30 Days. Neither page states a counting rule. Visa and Artemis publish a separate adjusted cumulative total as of 2026-04-21. This page does not merge the figures.

Transactions, buyers, and dollar volume
A transaction count, a buyer count, and a dollar volume answer different questions. The x402.org panel read on 2026-10-21 puts 75.41M next to Transactions, $24.24M next to Volume, 94.06K next to Buyers, and 22K next to Sellers, all under one Last 30 Days heading. x402scan puts 3.06M, $1.50M, 35.75K, and 38K under Past 30 Days. The two headings are not the same window statement, and neither page states when the window starts.
Why x402 numbers differ says one chain transaction can contain several payments, and one payment can produce several token transfers. A hash, a transfer, a payment, and an API request are different units. The page does not publish a volume total of its own.
Test and self dealing
The Visa article says its adjusted totals exclude identified wash and test activity, and that the raw onchain totals are higher. The data date in the footnote is 2026-04-21. This page does not compute a gap between the adjusted total and the raw total. The x402.org and x402scan panels read on 2026-10-21 do not say whether test or self dealing transfers are included.
Facilitator reports and on chain counts
A facilitator can report payments it settled. An on chain count starts from transfers or settlement events. The same activity can also be attributed to more than one facilitator, so adding facilitator shares does not produce one ecosystem total. The methodology page makes that distinction. Neither homepage read on 2026-10-21 says which of those methods produced its panel.
The Visa article says its figures come from Artemis Analytics onchain data. That is a different method and a different date from the two homepages.
Chain coverage
The x402.org FAQ says the protocol supports EVM compatible chains, Solana, and more. That sentence is about the protocol, not a list of chains inside the Last 30 Days panel. The Visa article says most of the x402 activity in its data was on Base, Solana, and Polygon, as of 2026-04-21. The x402scan overall view is labeled All Chains and does not, on the fetched page, list the chains in the Past 30 Days total.
